Right to Information 2005 makes it mandatory for the concerned authorities to provide timely response to citizen requests for government information by drafting RTIs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative is taken by the Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions to provide an RTI Portal Gateway to the citizens for quick need of information on the details of first Appellate Authorities,PIOs etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This promotes transparency and accountability in the working of public authority which common people can question for and more information as and when required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Process:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Step 1:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Be clear of the department from where you want information and identify where your subject matter lies i.e. under state government or any local authority or the central government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

On white paper you should write the application in hindi,english or any other local language which you think officials understand or you can seek help from a Public Information Officer to help you write that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Address the application to the state\/ Central Publication Information officer and mention the name of the officer from whom you have seeked the information and write down the correct address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Put your request in the form of specific and detailed questions along with the dates\/ particular period for which you want to have information. Ask the relevant documents and extracts and for getting the document you will be charged Rs. 2\/- as fee per page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 5: <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

You need to file your plea with a fee of Rs. 10\/- in the form of cash, money order, postal order or bank draft. Applicants below BPL need not file this fee instead can attach  BPL certificate with the application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 6:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Mention your name, address and email id, put your signatures clearly along with the name of your town. Take the photocopy of the application for future reference and post it and remember to take the acknowledgement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 7:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

It is mandatory that the information will be provided in 30 days and in failure to get the same you shall file the appeal. The first appeal shall be addressed to \u2018The Appellate Authority\u2019 with the name of the concerned department and the address. If the Appellate authority fails to reply within 30 days, further appeal lies with the Information Commission, the Chief Information Commissioner, State\/Central Information Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who can ask for information?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This Right to Information Act extends to the whole of India except the state of Jammu and Kashmir. All citizens including Indians living abroad can avail the opportunity to ask the right to seek information. This implies that the person who is seeking information must be an individual and not a corporation, society or any other public authority. Persons of Indian Origin and foreign nationals cannot avail the benefits under this Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
