According to research based on marriages in India, only 10 % of people perform inter-faith marriage in India. And, 2.5 % of people perform an inter-religion marriage. In many places of India, still, inter-caste or inter-religion marriage is not seen as a good thing. There are many laws present in India to allow inter-religion or inter-faith marriages. These can be very useful in eliminating discrimination in India.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important Law For Inter-Faith Marriage In India &#8211;&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Special Marriage Act, 1954<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Special Marriage Act is one of the most important laws for the marriage of partners who belong to different religions. It is applicable to all over India including Jammu &amp; Kashmir. It takes at least 30 days for the completion of marriage under this act. The consent of parents is also important for the marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It follows the same process of marriage, the marriage of partners under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leadindia.law\/marriage-registration\"><strong>Special Marriage Act<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\">\n<li>With Conversion&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If any of the partners convert their religion to another, the marriage will be performed as per the marriage laws. The laws can be &#8211;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>i) Hindu Marriage Act, 1954 &#8211;<\/strong> If both the partners belong to the Hindu religion (after conversion) then, they can easily perform their marriage as per this act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ii) Muslim Marriage Laws &#8211;<\/strong> If both the partners belong to the Muslim religion (after conversion) then, they can easily perform their marriage as per this act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>iii) Indian Christian Marriage Act, 1872 &#8211;<\/strong> If both the partners belong to the Christian religion (after conversion) then, they can easily perform their marriage as per this act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Parents Consent is not necessary for this kind of marriage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It takes only one day for the complete process of marriage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There is a facility for Intimation letter &amp; Newspaper Publication.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It will help you in getting police protection very easily.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Documents Required For The Inter Faith Marriage in india-&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Identity Proof &#8211;<\/strong> Both the partners need to submit the ID Proof documents ( PAN Card \/ Voter ID Card \/ Passport )<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Address Proof &#8211; <\/strong>Both the partners can send their documents: Aadhar Card \/ Ration Card \/ Passport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Passport Size Photographs&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Birth Proof &#8211;<\/strong> Class 10th Marksheet \/ Any Other Birth Proof Document<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, there are 2-3 witnesses are required for the marriage of partners.
