I have a question regarding a Hindu girl and a Muslim boy. They have signed a affidavit for marriage and also got married in a temple. They want to have a court marriage without informing their parents. They have been in a relationship for 8 years and are facing a lot of tension. Can you help them regarding this situation?
Sir, the couple can marry under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, which allows interfaith marriages without parental consent, provided they meet the legal age requirements. They should file a notice with the marriage registrar and wait 30 days for objections. Previous temple marriage may not be legally valid. If facing threats, they can seek protection under harassment laws or file a police complaint. It is advised to consult an expert lawyer who will assist you with the smooth procedure of court marriage. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
