We belong to an agricultural family in Tamil Nadu. We applied for an electricity connection under the Government’s Tatkal scheme. About 80% of the work was completed on our agricultural land, but the remaining has been halted for over two years. The issue is that we need a route from the nearby power source (transformer), which is located beside our land and owned by a major automobile subsidiary. This company has raised objections, leaving the Electricity Board helpless, as our land is surrounded on all sides by industries. Kindly advise us on how we can get justice.
You can file a legal complaint with the Electricity Ombudsman or State Electricity Regulatory Commission. Also, file a writ petition in the High Court asking for directions to the Electricity Board for alternate routing. The industry’s objection must not deprive you of basic rights. Engage a local advocate for help. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
