My car's RC was due for renewal by 28/02/2024. I visited the District Transport Office (DTO) on 21/02/2024, but the RC renewal was held up because the PUC fuel norms were not updated in the DTO portal. I submitted an acknowledgment letter requesting the norms to be updated to complete the process on time. However, the department took 14 months to update the norms, which delayed my RC renewal. As a result, I had to pay a penalty of ₹7,000 due to the department's fault. I filed a plaint in the Consumer Forum, but my application was rejected at the outset, stating that it was a tax matter and outside the purview of the forum. What should I do next?
Since the Consumer Forum rejected your case, the best solution now is to file Petition in the Court. The delay was clearly due to the transport office, not you. You can ask the court to refund the ₹7,000 penalty and hold the department accountable for their mistake. An RTI can also support your case. For further legal solution contact us on our helpline numbe
