My name is Tabrez and my age is 26, and I want to marry with my cousin she is 16 year's old, I have doubts about legal ages of marriage in India, and confused about Muslim personal law between Supreme court recent judgement, I want a clearify about this matter, can I marry with my Cousin with both parents consent, are this marriage legal or not, please let me clarify.. thanks.
In India, the legal age of marriage is 18 for women and 21 for men. A 16-year-old cannot legally marry under the Indian laws, including Muslim personal law. Even with parental consent, a marriage with someone underage is illegal and punishable. You must wait until she reaches the legal age. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
