Court mairrage certificate

We have done court mairrage under special mairrage act 1954, with parents as witnesses. The question is whether we need to register our mairrage through municipal corporation or the marriage certificate issued at SDM office where our marriage was done is valid enough for name changes in passport, visa etc?
