Sir, my son got married in a temple at Sonepur Hariharnath in May. He is coming with his wife on 16th October to get the marriage registered under the Special Marriage Act. What procedure do we need to follow?
Since your son has already been married in a temple, you can directly register his marriage under the Hindu Marriage Act (HMA). This marriage can also be registered under the Special Marriage Act (SMA), but under the SMA, no rituals are performed. You must first apply and book an appointment with the SDM Office or Marriage Registrar. After applying, a 30-day notice period will be issued, and then you must visit again for the final registration, after which the marriage certificate will be provided.
