We are both 34 years old and live in South Delhi. We plan to get married in September 2025. Although we come from Hindu families, we have chosen to marry under the Special Marriage Act because we are atheists. I would like to hire a lawyer and would appreciate an idea of the fees involved. It would be great if you could send me a cost breakdown via email. Thank you!
You both can legally marry under the Special Marriage Act without any religious ceremony. Just file a 30-day notice at the local registrar’s office in South Delhi. After that, if no objections arise, your marriage can be solemnized, and you will get a valid marriage certificate recognized across India. Hiring a lawyer can make this process smoother.
