Hello Team, I am facing a situation where my son, an Indian national, is undergoing naturalization along with my wife for Dutch citizenship. I am a Dutch citizen who renounced my Indian passport over a year ago. My son was born in India when I was an Indian citizen, and I received Dutch nationality shortly after his birth. I applied for his naturalization along with my wife, but it will take a few more months for his Dutch citizenship to be granted. Can he renew his Indian citizenship in the meantime? The VFS rejected the request. Currently, we are unable to travel as my son's passport is less than 5 months old and cannot be renewed, and he does not yet have Dutch citizenship. Can a lawyer help by obtaining a court notice for the renewal of my son's (minor) passport?
Sir, as your son was born in India when you were an Indian citizen, he may still retain Indian citizenship. You can appeal to the Indian consulate for passport renewal, clarifying his citizenship status. Consult a lawyer specializing in Indian and Dutch nationality laws for further assistance. If necessary, seek court intervention to resolve the passport renewal issue. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number
