Sir, I applied for my passport on 24 August. During the police verification, the police officer asked me to provide my birth certificate, which I do not have. He then submitted an unclear report. I visited the RPO and submitted my Transfer Certificate (TC), after which the police verification was rescheduled. However, during the second verification, the officer refused to accept my TC and again insisted on a birth certificate. I explained that I have a valid Oman visa and need to travel soon, otherwise I may lose my job. Despite this, he submitted another unclear report.
You should immediately submit a written representation to the concerned RPO requesting review of the adverse police verification reports. Attach your Transfer Certificate, Oman visa, and other available documents proving your date of birth. Ask the RPO to specify the required document in writing. If the issue remains unresolved, consult a passport lawyer regarding further legal remedies. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
Dear Client, Birth certificate isn't mandatory; TC is accepted under Passports Rules & MEA notification for applicants born before 1 Oct 2023. Carry printed MEA press release to RPO/police. Escalate via: (1) RPO Grievance Officer; (2) Passport Seva portal grievance; (3) RTI to RPO & SP citing urgency (Sec 7(1)); (4) SP/DCP representation. If stalled, lawyer's notice or writ petition. Consider Tatkal. TC alone suffices as DOB proof. For further queries, please contact us. Thank you.
