My sister had a love marriage and lived with us for a year without informing us. Now that we have found out, we are ready to accept the marriage. However, we are concerned that she may face problems in her in-laws' home in the future. What should we do going forward to ensure her safety and rights? What are the possible future issues we should be prepared for? Please guide me.
Your sister can write a declaration or affidavit confirming her marriage and her choice to stay with her husband. To protect her in the future, both families can meet and discuss mutual understanding. If needed, a police complaint can be filed in advance to record any threats or concerns to prevent domestic harassment. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
