I am facing an issue with my first passport application and would appreciate advice from anyone who has faced a similar situation. Facts: • My passport application mentions my father's name as Mahadev Prasad Sharma. • My CBSE Class 10 certificate also mentions my father's name as Mahadev Prasad Sharma. • However, my father's Aadhaar, PAN, and Voter ID mention his name as Mahadev Sharma. • Both names refer to the same person, my father. During police verification, the officer reported this name discrepancy. I have now received a notice from the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Delhi (Bhikaji Cama Place), asking me to appear before the Passport Officer with the original documents. My questions are: • Has anyone faced a similar issue? • Is an affidavit sufficient, or will newspaper publication also be required? • Will the RPO ask me to correct my CBSE certificate, or can the passport be issued after clarification? • Would it help if I take my father along with all his original documents?
Since both names refer to the same person, carry all original documents, including your father's identity proofs, when you appear before the Regional Passport Office. If required, you may also submit an affidavit or any additional documents requested by the Passport Authority. Follow the instructions given by the RPO, as they will decide whether further correction or clarification is necessary. For further legal assistance contat us on our helpline number.
