How to handle false dowry case and fake bills?

In January 2022, my brother got engaged. They used to communicate via WhatsApp. In March 2022, they had an argument regarding the place of residence, which led to tension between them. The girl’s father repeatedly asked whether we wanted to proceed. We refused, and they immediately demanded compensation. We agreed and requested all expense bills. When we exchanged gifts in August, they didn’t sign the final settlement and said they needed 7 days to provide the bills. They promised to sign after full payment. In February 2023, they filed a false police complaint alleging dowry demand and claimed they paid us ₹1.5 lakhs. The bills provided were fake. The local police ignored our evidence and forced us to pay. How should we handle this false allegation and the fake bills?

You should collect all communication records, fake bills, and call recordings as proof. File a counter-complaint for blackmail, extortion, and defamation. You can also approach the SP or file for anticipatory bail if needed. Consult a criminal lawyer immediately to protect your rights and file a complaint in court if police are biased.
