Will my mother’s name mismatch affect jobs, passport, or visa?
I am really stressed. What should I do? Will I never be able to get a job or clear document verification because of this? On my SSC, HSC, and Leaving Certificate, only my mother’s first name (“Sunita”) is mentioned, as most schools in Maharashtra record only the mother’s first name. However, on my degree marksheets and degree certificate, I mistakenly mentioned my mother’s full name (“Sunita Ramesh Pawar”) instead of only her first name. Her full name is also mentioned on my passport. Because of this difference, I am confused about what I should do. It has already been 3 years since I graduated, so correction may not be possible. Will this create any problem in government or private jobs, and while reissuing my passport or applying for a visa? What is the solution?
Dear Client, The minor discrepancy does not prevent employment or document verification because identity verification requires comprehensive assessment. The future problem should be solved through your execution of an affidavit which states that "Sunita" and "Sunita Ramesh Pawar" are two names for one person, and you need to have it notarized. You have the option to publish a name clarification in the newspaper while using university procedures to update your record. The Passports Act, 1967, along with its rules, provides the process for seeking passport corrections. The affidavit together with the records establishes evidence according to Sections 61 and 63 of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 which maintains document coherence.
Dear client, This kind of difference does not normally automatically disqualify you from government or private jobs unless the identity itself is false and inconsistent. Since "Sunita" and "Sunita Ramesh Pawar" refer to the same person, you were to have a notarized affidavit /declaration of fact stating that both names pertain to the same mother of yours. If needed to obtain a Gazette publication and supporting documents such as your mother's ID. At the time of verification of the documents submit an affidavit and explanation. For passport reissue or visa, however, this under the Passports Act, 1967 and applicable rules on documentation for passports can usually be made clear. If you have any query please feel free to contact us.
