Can we get mutual divorce without one-year separation?

What if we want a mutual divorce but haven’t lived separately for one year? Can the cooling-off period be waived?

For mutual divorce, living separately for at least one year is usually required. But in special cases, the family court can waive the cooling-off period of 6 months. You both can jointly request the court, citing hardship or urgency. The final decision is with the judge, based on your case details. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
