Husband hit me, no proof, demanding money for divorce?

My husband has physically assaulted me twice. I want a divorce, but I don’t have any proof because we live separately from my in-laws. They are not ready to grant a divorce and are demanding ₹5 lakhs for marriage and other expenses. What should I do?

You can file a domestic violence complaint even without physical proof. Your statement and witness (if any) are enough to initiate action. No one can force you to pay money for divorce. You can file for divorce on the ground of cruelty and also seek protection and legal aid. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
