Is annulment possible after two months of marriage?

It has been two months since my cousin sister got married under the Hindu Marriage Act. However, the marriage has not yet been registered. Unfortunately, the relationship is not working due to compatibility and cultural differences, and both families are concerned that the situation may deteriorate further. What is the quickest and most appropriate legal way to dissolve the marriage? Is annulment or cancellation of the marriage possible in these circumstances, or would the parties need to proceed through the process of mutual consent divorce?

If the marriage was validly solemnized under the Hindu Marriage Act, the mere fact that it has not been registered does not make it invalid. Annulment is available only on specific legal grounds mentioned in the Hindu Marriage Act, such as fraud, concealment of material facts, impotence, or other grounds recognized by law. Compatibility or cultural differences alone generally do not qualify for annulment. The appropriate legal remedy will depend on the facts of the case. The couple should consult a family law lawyer to assess whether any ground for annulment exists or whether divorce proceedings would be the suitable course of action.
