What legal steps can I take for child custody and expenses?

Sir, my husband didn't pay for maternity expenses. He also denied paying child expenses, which led me to leave his house. I regularly contributed to household expenses, and in addition, he made me buy certain furniture items for the home, saying I should pay for them. I was on bed rest during my pregnancy, and apart from the pick-and-drop service to the doctor, he didn't help me with anything. I want custody of the child. How can I proceed?
