What to do if ancestral land is declared government property?

Our land was in our grandfather’s name and we’ve had possession of it for 500 years. Now, on the order of the District Collector, the land has been declared as state land, even though we have built a house on it. No one is helping us. Is there anything we can do?

You should file a case in the civil court or approach the High Court if you have proof of long possession (like utility bills, house tax, etc.). You can also apply under adverse possession law or file a writ petition challenging the DC's order. Consult a local property lawyer immediately.
