Section 1- Short Title & Extent

i) The act is known as the Hindu Marriage Act 1955.

 

ii) The main aim of the act was to reform & modify the Hindu laws for marriage.

 

iii) All Sections of the Hindu Religion can perform the marriage as per this law.   

 

iv) It is applicable all over India.
