What Is The Parsi Marriage & Divorce Act, 1936?
Parsi community comes under the minority in India, but they have their marriage act based on the facts from their religious beliefs.
- The Parsi marriage has to be solemnized as per the “Ashirvad” custom in the appearance of a Parsi Priest or Parsi Dastur or Mobbed following the Parsi Marriage and Divorce Act, 1936.
2 Witnesses should be commenced at the time of the marriage.
- The Parsi Priest/Dastur / Mobed who carries the wedding should originate a wedding certification signed by the priest, the couple, and two witnesses.
- All Parsi/Irani/Zoroastrian marriages have to be enrolled with the marriage registrar.
- The minimum age of the Parsi Male & Female must be 21 years & 18 years respectively.
- Marriage is not permitted between blood relatives
- Bigamy and Polygamy are not permitted
- The Act also pronounces dos and don’ts for the Parsi Priest/dastur/mobed, pair, and the witnesses.
