What can I do if lawyers are demanding a 10 lakh fee?

I have an 18-year-old case that was concluded in Pune and Mumbai courts, with the money distributed among two parties in a 70/30 ratio. Now, my lawyers are asking for 10 lakh as their fee. Is this justified?

Dear client, Lawyers can charge fees as per the agreement, but Rs.10 lakh must be reasonable and agreed by the parties earlier in the agreement. Check your fee agreement and if the amount is not agreed or if it is excessive, you can refuse and file a complaint with the Bar Council. May this help and if you have any further issues do not hesitate to contact us.

In a case where the lawyers are demanding a fee of ₹10 lakh after the case is resolved and the money has been distributed, it’s essential to review your agreement with them. If the fee seems excessive, you may be able to negotiate or seek legal advice to ensure the charges are reasonable. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
