The Special Marriage Act, 1954 was invoked for marriages that take place between Indian citizens and Bangladeshi citizens who's m marriage occurs in India. The marriage process requires couples to provide their 30-day notice to the Marriage Officer who will then arrange for public notice and objection handling according to Chapter 6 and 7 before proceeding to Chapter 11 marriage. The statutory notice period prevents immediate registration which requires several days to complete. The foreign national must possess a valid visa and no-objection certificate from their embassy. The parties involved in the agreement must meet the requirements established in Section 4. The Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023 defines document proof and declaration evidence through its Sections 61 and 63.

Dear client, If there is an Indian citizen and a Bangladeshi citizen as one of the partners, it is generally performed under the provisions of Special Marriage Act, 1954. This is not a same-day process as there is notice of intended marriage required with the Marriage Officer, a 30-day notice period (with objections). For a foreign national there may be other documents such as passport, valid visa, marital status/single status proof, embassy-related documents. So, registration for a few days is not possible in general. If you have any query please feel free to contact us.

If one partner is an Indian citizen and the other is a Bangladeshi citizen, marriage in India is usually done under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. This is not a same-day process because a notice of intended marriage must be filed before the Marriage Officer, followed by a 30-day notice period, with objections. For a foreign national, additional documents like passport, valid visa, marital status/single status proof, and embassy-related documents may be required. So, registration within a few days is generally not possible. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
