Can they take action based on a fake company's agreement?

I received a message on WhatsApp regarding a work-from-home typing job. They had an agreement for the job in which my photo and signature were digitally included. However, after starting the work, the hiring person themselves told me that it's a fake company and advised me not to continue. Is it possible that they can take action based on that agreement if the company is fake?
