What can I do if forced to follow traditions?

Sir, I got married 4 months ago. I’ve always opposed the tradition of wearing a veil (ghunghat), and even after marriage, I don't wear it. I informed my husband before marriage. Now, he and his family are forcing me to wear it. They mentally tortured me and told me to leave if I don’t follow it. Can you help me?

You have full right to live with dignity. Forcing you to follow customs against your will is mental cruelty. You can file a complaint under the Domestic Violence Act for harassment. You may also seek protection and counseling support. The law is with you, no one can force cultural practices on you. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
