What is the legal for a girl to get married?
Sir, I married my daughter when she was 16 years old, recently in July, after she completed her 10th standard. The person I married her to is the grandson of my mother-in-law’s sister. My mother-in-law came to our house and forced us to marry her to her sister’s grandson. We agreed because we don't have any relatives here, and they told us that if we didn’t agree, they wouldn’t support us in anything. I was scared because without their support, we would have no one. I told my son-in-law that I wouldn’t stop my daughter’s studies unless she wanted to, and they agreed. Her husband is a good man, but now her grandmother and aunt are mentally harassing her by scolding us in front of her, and sometimes scolding her. They don’t allow her to sleep until 11 pm and wake her up at 5 am. They are also telling her to stop studying. Can I keep my daughter with me and enroll her in college again until she turns 18?
Sir, in India the legal age of a girl to get marry is 18 but your daughter was 16 at the time of marriage so it is not legally valid. If your daughter is facing mental harassment from her in - laws then you can file a police complaint with the help of an expert lawyer who will also guide you to protect her educational rights.
