What to do if father threatens property and mental harassment?

I am a man in my 40s. My father is very abusive and frequently threatens to throw me out of the house. We often try to settle the matter through compromise. I have two brothers. Now, my father is threatening to cut off the electricity supply to my room and even lock the room while I, my wife, and my children are living there. I suffer from mental health issues and am experiencing mental torture due to this behavior. As it is a joint family property, I have no house in my name. I only want to retain my car (which is in my name), a bike, and a place to live peacefully with my family. In short, I want an equal share of the property to secure my living.

You can file a domestic violence complaint for mental harassment and seek residence rights under the DV Act. For property, if it's ancestral, you can claim your share through a partition suit. If your car and bike are in your name, no one can legally take them. Consult a civil and family lawyer. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
