How to expedite pending writ and change lawyer in High Court?

My writ petition has been pending in the Bombay High Court since October 2024 for admission. It is related to the unilateral termination of my consultancy contract, which was valid till 30 June 2025 or until I attain the age of 65 years. My date of birth is 08-09-1961. The termination was served via email on Friday (28 June 2024) at 5 PM, with relieving effective from 30 June 2024 (Sunday), without any prior notice or intimation. My current lawyer is hesitant to expedite the matter, and I will turn 65 on 08 September 2026. I need urgency in the case, early hearing, and a change of lawyer.

Since your writ petition is pending before the Bombay High Court, you can file an urgent mentioning application through a new advocate for early listing and hearing. You also have the right to change your lawyer anytime by filing a vakalatnama withdrawal and fresh vakalatnama. For urgency due to age and termination, your new counsel can request early hearing or interim relief from the court. Delay by earlier counsel cannot stop your right to pursue expedited hearing.
