Can an Indian legally marry a foreign citizen in India?

Hello Sir, I am an Indian Hindu man, and my girlfriend is a Muslim citizen of Bangladesh. We both want to get married. Can I legally convert my religion and marry her in India? Her visa is valid for only two more weeks. What legal options do we have to complete the marriage process within this period?

You do not necessarily need to change your religion to marry a Muslim Bangladeshi citizen. If both of you are legally eligible, you may consider marriage under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, subject to its requirements and procedure. Her visa expiry is important, so immediately consult the concerned Marriage Officer and an immigration/family lawyer regarding the marriage procedure and lawful extension or other immigration options. Do not overstay her visa. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
