What should I do if someone is blackmailing me for money?

My bike was hit by another bike. The other rider fell and got some minor injuries, but I was unharmed. I asked him if he needed medical help, but he said his father is in the police and will pay for the damage to his bike. I offered insurance, but he refused. Now, he is blackmailing me, demanding money or threatening to file a false case against me with his father’s help. He got his bike repaired, even though it wasn’t damaged in the accident. I offered him some money, but he is not agreeing. What should I do?

Dear Client, do not pay or agree under any pressure. Keep all the proofs like calls, messages and file a complaint with the police on Cybercrime portal. Inform your insurance company and be ready to defend any false cases. Consider sending a legal notice through a lawyer. I hope this answers your query, for further queries contact us.

To handle blackmail, report the matter to the police under sections of IPC related to extortion (Section 384) and criminal intimidation (Section 506). If he continues to threaten you, consider filing a police complaint or seeking an injunction. You can also seek legal advice on negotiating a settlement.
