How to legally recover my money?

I had a neighbor who indirectly borrowed money from me. They own a small restaurant where I used to eat lunch almost every day. One day, they asked me to pay for some items using my credit card, saying they would return the money later. They bought two items but haven’t repaid anything in the last eight months. One of the items was a mobile phone with a six-month EMI plan; they only paid me back three times via UPI and haven't paid anything in the past two months. The last time I called them, they showed a bad attitude. It doesn’t seem like they intend to repay the remaining Rs. 32,000. I have WhatsApp messages showing the cost breakdown and my requests for repayment, but most conversations were verbal.

You can send a legal notice through a lawyer demanding repayment. If they still do not pay, file a civil recovery suit in the small causes court. Your WhatsApp chats and UPI payments can serve as evidence. Try to document everything going forward to support your case. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
