What can I do if photographer hasn’t delivered wedding video?

My wedding was on 29th November 2021. The wedding photographer has still not delivered the wedding video. He claims that the hard drive was damaged and sent for recovery over two years ago. Now he says there’s less than a 30% chance of recovery. I’m very disappointed. I want to take legal action to recover the video or claim compensation. There is no written contract, but I have proof of payment in my bank statement. Is this possible? How should I proceed?

You can file a case in Consumer Court for deficiency in service and mental harassment. Even without a written contract, your payment proof (bank statement) is valid. The court can order compensation and ask the photographer to return whatever data is recoverable. Send a legal notice first for formal demand.
