Can I take legal action after my boyfriend married another?
My boyfriend and I lived together for 3 years, but now he has married another girl. Can I take legal action against him? Please help.
Dear Client, If your boyfriend was unmarried during your live-in relationship and has now married someone else, you generally cannot take legal action solely because he chose to marry another person. A live-in relationship does not by itself create a legal right to marriage. However, if the relationship involved fraud, deception, financial exploitation, abuse, or a false promise of marriage made with no intention of being fulfilled, legal remedies may be available depending on the facts. Simply being in a live-in relationship for three years and then having the relationship end is generally not, by itself, a ground for legal action. Do not hesitate to reach out for more help. Thank you.
You may not have legal grounds to take action against your boyfriend for marrying another woman unless you were legally married. If you were in a live-in relationship, it does not constitute marriage under Indian law. However, if there was abuse or violence involved, you can file a case under the Domestic Violence Act for protection or compensation. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
