What should we do if our flat number is incorrect?
We recently purchased a flat, but there's an issue with the flat number. According to the registered agreements, the flat number is 203, but the society claims it’s 009, and all utility bills reflect this number. The society says the mistake is from the builder’s end, and the society was registered in 2014 with numbers 1 to 14. The number 203 doesn't exist, and they issued the sale NOC with the number 9. We are the third owners, and our applications for electricity name changes are being rejected due to this error. How can we resolve this?
The discrepancy in flat numbers can be resolved by contacting the builder to correct the documentation. If the builder refuses, you can approach the Consumer Court for misrepresentation. You can also request the electricity department and society to address the issue with the correct paperwork. Legal help may be necessary for further escalation. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
