What to do about old POA linked to property?

I purchased a plot, and the encumbrance certificate for it starts from 16/07/1988 till now with no issues. However, in 2018, someone linked a Power of Attorney (POA) related to a document from 1982 involving my plot's survey number. What can I do?

Even though your encumbrance certificate starts from 1988 and shows no issues, if someone has linked a Power of Attorney (POA) from 1982 to your plot, it may affect ownership rights. You should consult a property lawyer and verify documents at the sub-registrar’s office. File an objection if needed. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
