Can I send a legal notice for delayed bike ownership transfer?

I sold a bike in 2015 and the buyer hasn't transferred the ownership yet. What are the legal options to make him do the transfer? Can I send a legal notice and if still not done, file a performance suit as he had agreed to do the transfer within 12 days of purchase.

You can send a legal notice to the buyer through a lawyer demanding transfer of ownership within a specified period (usually 15-30 days) and warning of legal action under Section 50 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. If the buyer still doesn't comply, you can file a complaint with the local RTO or file a civil suit for specific performance of contract in the relevant civil court, though it's advisable to also file Form 29 (notice of transfer) with the RTO to protect yourself from any future liability.

Sir, you can send a legal notice to the buyer to transfer the ownership and if still he fails to comply you can file a performance suit. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
