Does a police case affect a visa application?
Hello, My sister-in-law had filed DVC/498a case against whole of my family, which was disposed off 5 yrs back as NOT GUILTY. Do i need to still furnish the details of the case while applying for US visa?
Dear Client, A 498A/DV case that ended in acquittal or a finding of "not guilty" does not automatically prevent you from obtaining a U.S. visa. However, you should answer all visa application questions truthfully. If the visa form specifically asks whether you have ever been arrested, charged, or involved in a criminal case, you should disclose the case and, if required, provide the court order showing that it was decided in your favour. An acquittal is generally viewed differently from a conviction, but the final decision on visa issuance rests with the U.S. authorities. I hope this helps, and do not hesitate to reach out if you have further questions.
Irrespective of whether the case is dismissed or or not found guilty, it is required to provide the details of the any previous history of case while applying for US visa. Any misrepresentations can cause cancelling of the US visa.
Sir, it is directed by the Visa department of India; applicant must provide accurate and proper information regarding any case history while apply for visa, failing to do so may result in postponement or visa rejection. For further details contact us on our helpline number.
