Can we proceed with court marriage without her parents' consent?

My girlfriend is from Rajasthan, and I am from Chandigarh. We both want to do a court marriage, and my parents are ready, but hers are not. Can we go ahead with the court marriage without her permission? We are doing this as a backup plan. Actually, we are both studying, and once we complete our studies, I will try to convince her parents. But if they force her, I plan to use those legal documents. We are both adults, of legal age as per the law.

Under Indian law, if the girl is above 18 years of age and the boy is above 21 years of age, they have the legal right to marry without parental consent, as per the provisions of the Special Marriage Act, 1954. This right is protected under the Constitution as part of personal liberty, allowing individuals to choose their spouse freely. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
