Sir, under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, both parties are generally required to be present to submit the 30-day notice and for the final registration. However, if one party is unable to be present (e.g., abroad), the process may continue with a proxy or specific documents, depending on the registrar's discretion. It's best to confirm the exact requirements with the local marriage registrar where you intend to register the marriage. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
