Is it necessary to visit the police station for statement?

I (X) married Y without my family's permission, and I am happy with him. My parents filed a complaint saying I am missing, and now the police are calling him to come to my place and give a statement. However, we have already informed them of where we got married, but the police are repeatedly asking him to come and give a statement. My question is: Is it necessary for him to go there? Can we give the statement at the police station instead? Is it compulsory to go to their office for the statement? I am not ready to go there. Is there any alternative method to provide the statement without going there? Please help me.

The police might want you or your husband to give a statement to check the facts. You can ask if you can give the statement at the police station, but it's up to the police how they handle it. It's a good idea to talk to a lawyer who can help you understand your rights and what to do next. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
