What documents and process are required for court marriage registration?

I am an Indian citizen, and I want to do a court marriage in India with my Nepali partner. We are already married, but we did not register our marriage in Nepal or any court in Nepal. I want to register our marriage in India, specifically in Bhopal, as it is my birthplace. I would like to know the required documents for a court marriage, how many days the process takes, the applicable charges, and if there are any additional legal formalities for an Indian-Nepali marriage. Do we need any special permissions or affidavits due to my spouse’s foreign nationality? Will my spouse require a visa or any other legal documentation, and is there a waiting period after submitting the application? Please provide detailed information regarding the process.

To register your marriage in Bhopal under the Special Marriage Act, submit a notice to the Marriage Registrar with documents like identity proof, age proof, passport size photos and an affidavit. After a 30-day waiting period, if no objections are raised, you can complete the registration. Charges are minimal, and your Nepali spouse does not need a visa.
