If you are an Indian citizen and your partner is from the USA, they will need a Single Status Affidavit (also called a No Objection Certificate) confirming they are free to marry. They can get this from a local notary or County Clerk in the U.S., and it should be apostilled. This document is required for marriage registration in India.
