Can a old woman seek maintenance form her son?
I am a financially weak woman, whose husband divorced me, remarried, and took my son. I was never allowed to meet my son and was brainwashed due to my financial situation. Now, I am old, unable to earn (age 55), and suffering from medical ailments. I want maintenance from my son.
As a financially dependent woman, especially above 50 with medical ailments, you can seek maintenance from your son under Section 144 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). If you are unable to earn and have no support, the court can order your son to provide financial support. A lawyer can help file the petition.
