Does my husband have rights to my inherited property?

Can anyone tell me, I received property, an own flat from my father as I am the legal heir. Does my husband have any rights to it? I do not have children. Can he sell or mortgage it without my signature or my father’s signature? Can he take a loan or claim my property without my knowledge? Does he have rights to it as though it is his property? Can I write a will and decide who inherits my property after me? Please reply.

As the legal heir, the property belongs to you. Your husband cannot sell or mortgage it without your consent or signature. You can write a will to decide who inherits the property after you. However, if he contributed significantly to the property, this may affect the legal standing, so seek legal advice. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
