Is it legal to collect personal information for matrimonial purposes?

I am part of a matrimonial WhatsApp group managed by an individual. Initially, the group was opened on selective days for participants to post biodata, but now the admin has created a Google form asking for very personal details and is creating a database. After that, he asks us to check the database and fill out the form again for profiles we like. Is it legal for him to ask for such personal information, and can he do this? The group is closed, and no discussions are allowed.

Sir, if the matrimonial group admin asks for personal details through a Google form, request an explanation regarding data collection. If you feel uncomfortable or suspect misuse of personal data, you can report the matter to authorities under the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures) Rules. Additionally, review the group's privacy policies or consult a data protection expert to assess the legality of this database. For further legal action contact us on our helpline number.
