Should I be worried after allowing minor roommate to use account?

I am 19 years old. I initially allowed my roommate, who is a minor, to use my account for transactions related to sports betting. When his addiction got out of hand, I withdrew my account. He convinced someone else to open a separate account for him. Now, he owes a lot of money to others and some money to me. When his parents found out, they started threatening the person who opened the new account, saying they would take the matter to the police. Since my roommate is a minor, he won’t be punished. Should I be worried, considering he used my account initially? What should I do?

Since your roommate is a minor, he may not be fully legally responsible. However, you can still be held liable for enabling the betting activities. You should consult a lawyer to understand your legal position and consider reporting the matter to authorities, as using accounts for illegal activities could have serious consequences.
