Can father's name mismatch affect government document verification?

I require advice regarding a mismatch in my father's name across my educational documents. In my Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and certificates, my father's name is mentioned as AAA Kumar BBB. However, in my graduation marksheet and degree certificate, it is mentioned as AAA BBB, with the middle name "Kumar" omitted. All other details are identical, and both names refer to the same person. Will this discrepancy create any issues during document verification for UPSC, SSC, government jobs, or other competitive examinations? Would an affidavit stating that both names belong to the same person be sufficient, or should I get my graduation records corrected?

A minor discrepancy in your father's name may create issues during document verification. Although an affidavit explaining that both names refer to the same person can support your case, obtaining correction of the graduation records is the safer option. Keep all supporting documents ready and initiate the correction process with the university to avoid future complications. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
