Can relatives claim house if it's left unoccupied under Muslim law?

My late grandmother registered half of her property to my father, who had four daughters and no sons. After 12 years, my father registered that part in my mother’s name. Now, other relatives have filed a lawsuit claiming that my father transferred the property from my grandmother unknowingly. My father recently passed away, and we want to take our mother to another city or country. If we leave the house empty, will there be any legal problem under Muslim law? My father had four brothers and four sisters, two of whom are deceased.

You can leave the house empty, but ensure legal documentation of ownership is clear in your mother's name. Since relatives have filed a case, appoint a lawyer to represent your side. Under Muslim law, the registered gift/deed and time passed may support your claim. However, secure the property while it is unoccupied.
