How will a Hindu person's self-acquired property be distributed legally?

If a Hindu person passes away leaving behind a wife, two sons, and a daughter, how will his property be distributed? Specifically, how much share will the son receive in the deceased's self-acquired property, and how will the property be divided among the surviving family members, including the wife, sons, and daughter?

Under Hindu law, if the deceased person’s property is self-acquired, it will be divided equally among the wife, sons, and daughter. The wife and each son will get 1/4th share, and the daughter will receive 1/4th. If the property is ancestral, it will be divided among the legal heirs (wife, sons, and daughter) according to the Hindu Succession Act. In case of disputes, legal action can be taken for property partition. For further legal assistance contact us on our helpline number.
